Whilst I acknowledge that Annie, as stated, is a staff member of BBC Trust and simply following BBC directions one must be cognisant that so too were Auschwitz guards simply following orders – no sleight intended, simply acknowledging fact.
Annie's suggestions: contacting Dame Janet Smith & Audience services regarding complaints, and BBC Trust being 3rd stage of complaints process, is EXACTLY why Jimmy Savile & others could get away with what they did, and EXACTLY why BBC can continue with lies, deceptions, half-truths in their broadcasts.
The suggestions are effectively the same as an Auschwitz guard confirming their complaints process but 1st stage being a shower!!!

BBC rely on the claim that Smith, as an ex-Judge, is independent – this is nonsense – Smith was appointed by BBC & terms of reference limited by BBC – also, Smith having previously been a Judge offers no comfort, as we see with fabricated evidence in the Stephen Lawrence murder, rendition of Shrien Dewani from a Mental Institution, unlawful protection from prosecution for Branson, Sugar, Gordon, etc.
SO, BBC's complaint process is not functional – but not that it should have been necessary to have used it - as a communication of complaint to ANYONE at BBC should have resulted in positive action which it does not, despite assurances in Annie's letter that BBC will rectify – BBC Trust have FAILED to pass this complaint to Audience/Complaint services - BBC News & programmes dishonestly churn out garbage science from Brian Cox, Dara O'Brien, Sky-at-Night and many others; BBC know full well that Royal Society, Royal Institute, Royal Irish Academy, Royal Dublin Society are dishonestly obstructing new science that disproves centuries old 'science'.
BUT, BBC Board AND Trust AND Complaints AND News AND presenters (such as Chris Evans) are regularly kept informed by me of my R&D (link below) that disproves centuries old 'science' – but BBC simply fob-off because they are making plenty of money selling bogus science programmes around the world. I have set out simple steps for anyone to observe that Opticks are wrong – from this one can see that Einstein, Hubble, Hawking, Higgs, CERN are wrong – that Sky-at-Night/StarGazing are presenting false arguments - but BBC refuse to engage, because of finance interests in selling bogus 'science' programmes.
BBC presents bogus science regarding Climate Change & Pollution - BBC present nonsense arguments for or against Brexit – etc., etc., - Britain is mis&dis-informed by BBC, period.
It is not a 'belief' that BBC maintain a dishonest standpoint, but FACT! Insofar as my keeping BBC & BBC Trust fully informed of dishonest broadcasting, and Complaints having failed to address this, we have long passed the point that BBC Trust should have intervened – but BBC Trust is likewise dishonest.

Thank you for your email to Dame Janet Smith which you sent to the BBC Trust. I am responding as a member of the BBC Trust Unit which supports the Chairman and the BBC Trustees.
I note your comments about the Report of Dame Janet Smith Review. However, as I am sure you are aware Dame Janet does not work for the BBC Trust and I cannot answer on her behalf.
I must stress that this was an independent report and Dame Janet came to come to her own conclusions. Dame Janet – a former judge – undertook a wide-ranging review, carefully weighing evidence from many witnesses and other sources. The Trust has accepted her Report, and it is not our role to re-examine the matters she investigated.
That includes any consideration of Dame Janet’s findings in relation to the knowledge of senior staff. She found that people at the highest levels at the BBC did not know, but was clear that certain individuals lower down in the organisation knew or strongly suspected that Savile was engaging in unacceptable behaviour. For reasons set out in her report these concerns were not properly acted upon. That is one of the areas that the BBC will focus on for learning lessons. The Trust has made clear that it is appalled by the events recounted in the reports – and that the BBC failed in its duty to protect those who put their trust in it, irrespective of the level within the organisation of those who were aware. Signs were missed and opportunities to stop Jimmy Savile and Stuart Hall were lost.

You say that you believe that Tony Hall and the BBC ‘continue to maintain his and the BBC’s dishonest standpoint’ in reference to its news reporting. Ensuring the BBC is impartial is a key priority for the Trust; it is of the greatest significance that the BBC retains the public’s trust as a provider of news and programming. The BBC is required to deliver duly impartial and accurate news and programmes by the Royal Charter and Agreement and to treat controversial subjects with due impartiality. The Trust is committed to making sure that the BBC fulfils this obligation.
